Meta opened its official Ads MCP server in April 2026, and several third-party servers compete with it. This roundup explains what a Meta ads MCP server is, what Meta's official one does, and how the third-party servers differ. It is written by the Tempomat team; every fact comes from each server's own page or repository, checked on October 4, 2026.
What is a Meta ads MCP server?
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call tools on other systems. A Meta ads MCP server is one of those tool sets for Meta's ad platform: once connected, an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can pull reports, create campaigns or change budgets in your Meta ad account by calling its tools. What does Meta's official Ads MCP server do?
Meta announced its ads AI connectors, an MCP server and an ads CLI, in open beta on April 29, 2026. The server is hosted by Meta at mcp.facebook.com/ads and works with any MCP-compatible assistant. Its tools cover seven areas: reporting, ad creation and management, catalogs, signals and datasets, help, A/B and lift tests, and activity logs. In July 2026 Meta opened it to developers with their own Meta app.
- Write safety. Meta's docs say write tools create entities in a paused state, and your assistant asks for confirmation before activation. The activation tool "starts spending budget".
- Rules. Business owners can block actions such as creating campaigns or raising budgets; rules through the API are in limited availability.
- Access. Sign in with Facebook Login for Business, a user token or a system-user token; you don't need your own Meta app. Meta says not every account has every tool yet.
- Creatives. Meta's pages disagree: the developer docs describe single-image link ad creatives, while its help page lists image, video, carousel and catalog formats.

| Pipeboard | Hosted, or self-host | Read and write, confirmation on writes | Free tier; from $29.90/month |
| Markifact | Hosted | Read and write, approval on writes | From $79/month |

How do you choose a Meta ads MCP server?
- Decide whether the assistant should only read, or also write. Read-only is the safest start.
- If it writes, check that new campaigns start paused and that every activation asks you first.
- Check who holds your token: Meta itself, a hosted third party, or your own machine.
- Count your platforms. If you also need Google Ads or TikTok, a multi-platform server may beat several single ones.
- Compare price against how often you'll use it: some plans cap tool runs or ad accounts.
Are there TikTok and Google Ads MCP servers too?
Yes. TikTok's help center describes an official TikTok for Business MCP server that needs no developer credentials, with tools that include creating campaigns and pausing ad groups. Google's official Google Ads MCP server is open source and read-only in its current release, and you host it yourself.
Where does Tempomat fit?
Tempomat is not an MCP server you plug into your own assistant. It is an app whose agent uses MCP inside: its own tool servers for Meta, TikTok, Google Ads and stores, plus Meta's official Ads MCP for read-only benchmarks and trends. Campaigns are always built paused, and turning one on needs a person whose role allows it. If you want to chat with your ad account without setting up a client, tokens and permissions, that is what it is for. See the features and pricing.
Is it safe to give an AI write access to your Meta ads?
It can be, with three guards: new objects created paused, a human confirmation before anything spends, and a log of every change. The official server and most of the servers above offer the first two. Start read-only, add writes once you trust the setup, and set rules on budget increases. Our Facebook ads automation guide covers the approval habits that keep spend safe.
